Sassy Sangria
Ep 7: Lazy Bartender By Drinksdirect.NG
Red & Sassy
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of Chianti red wine
- 1/2 – 1 cup (120-240ml) orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed)
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (optional)
- 2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
- 400-500 g (3-4 cups) thinly sliced or cubed fruit of your choice (apples, pears, peaches, halved grapes, hulled and halved strawberries, orange, lemon, lime)
- Spices of your choice: 2 cinnamon sticks , 2 star anise pods, 3 whole cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, whole black pepper
Instructions
Extra Sangria Recipe Tips
- Just before serving, you can add up to 1 cup of cold sparkling water/club soda to make a sparkling sangria with a more subdued wine flavor.
- If you prefer a sweeter sangria, you can make a simple sugar syrup, chill it, and add it to the sangria. To make the sugar syrup, mix together 2-4 tablespoons sugar with an equal amount of hot water and stir until sugar dissolves.
- This is my favorite recipe for warm sangria. Just before serving, place all ingredients in a large saucepan and heat on medium-low, stirring occasionally, until mixture is hot but not boiling. Don’t let it boil or else the alcohol will evaporate. In this version, use your favorite spices and winter fruits such as apples, pears, and oranges.

Fresh Bellini Cocktail
Ep 6: Lazy Bartender By Drinksdirect.NG
Let’s get Fruity & Fizzy
INGREDIENTS
- 4 medium ripe peaches (1 ½ pounds), plus a few peach slices for garnish if desired
- 1 bottle Prosecco, chilled
INSTRUCTIONS
- First, make peach purée: Peel your peaches slice them in half, and remove the pits. Place the halved peaches in a blender or food processor, and blend until the purée is completely smooth. Peach purée is best served chilled, so place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to cool.
- When you’re ready to serve, pour 2 ounces (¼ cup) chilled peach purée into a Champagne flute. Pour in some chilled Prosecco, being careful not to overflow the glass. Gently stir with a spoon to combine.
- Top off the drink with another splash of Prosecco and garnish with a peach slice, if desired. Serve at once!
Bellinis are sparkling Italian cocktails made with two simple ingredients: Prosecco and peach purée. Its fizzy and fruity nature keeps it at the top of most Cocktail Menu.
Fresh Bellinis Cocktails are easy to make and perfect when you’re hosting brunch or soaking up a lazy summer weekend. They’re a fun alternative to a mimosa and feel a little fancier, maybe because they’re Italian.

Old Fashioned Cocktail
Ep 5: Lazy Bartender By Drinksdirect.NG
Old Skool And Trendy
Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey
- 1/4 ounce simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 sugar cube, or 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Orange peel or Luxardo cherry, for garnish
Directions
- Place a sugar cube or sugar in an old-fashioned glass and saturate it with Angostura bitters. Muddle or stir to mix.
- Add the whiskey, fill the glass with ice, and stir well
- Express the orange peel over the drink before dropping it into the glass: Twist up the peel and give it a good squeeze (directed toward the glass, not your eyes) and bits of citrus oil will spray into the drink. Add a cherry if you like.
You cannot get more classic than a classic Old Fashioned. This humble concoction of four ingredients—whiskey, sugar, Angostura bitters, and water—is quite literally the cocktail that started it all. It was that particular (and rather unremarkable) recipe that appeared alongside the first-ever printed use of the word “cocktail” way back in 1806.
Yes, even the old-timers of the 1880s considered it to be an old-school drink, our guess is human beings will be drinking Old Fashioned until end times because the damned drink will not be cool.
The sweetness makes it smoother than a lot of other whiskey-based drinks, though it remains a strong-jawed, spirit-forward option. Fortunately, with few ingredients, it’s also an easy cocktail to master.

Negroni Cocktail
Ep 4; Lazy Bartender By Drinksdirect.NG
Classic Italian Vibe
Ingredients
- 1/2 oz. gin
- 1/2 oz. red vermouth
- 1 1/2 oz. Campari
- Orange twist, to garnish
Directions
- Pour the Gin, vermouth and Campari into a mixing glass or jug with ice. Stir well until the outside of the glass feels cold
- Strain into a tumbler and add 1 large ice sphere or some fresh ice, and garnish with an orange slice, using a blood orange when in season.
Looking for a classic cocktail with an Italian vibe? The Negroni is one of the easiest and simple mixes you can treat yourself to. Maybe it’s the perfect cocktail. With equal parts of Campari, Gin, and sweet vermouth, it couldn’t be easier to make proving that, like Stooges and Musketeers, the best things really do come in threes.
Intended to be sipped, it’s refreshing on a hot day and after the close of a busy day. It’s youthful and yet, next to an Old Fashioned. It lends the drinker a certain continental sophistication. And it doesn’t skimp on the ABV.

Strawberry Basil Mojito
Ep;2 Lazy Bartender By Drinksdirect.NG
A pink-hued Summer
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lime cut into 4 wedges
- 5 fresh mint leaves
- 5 fresh basil leaves
- 3 large strawberries
- 1/2 ounce stevia simple syrup
- 1-ounce Rum ( Checkout vareties of Rum )
- Seltzer water to finish
Directions:
- Place the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a shaker or mason jar. Muddle the ingredients together with a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon.
- Add 2 more lime wedges along with the basil, strawberries, and stevia simple syrup then muddle the ingredients again.
- Add Rum and fill the shaker or mason jar with ice. Cap whichever tool you are using and shake to combine.
- Pour the entire mixture into a glass and top with seltzer water to finish.
- Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and serve.
Add basil to anything and I’m all for it! Basil is a powerful herb that can have anti-inflammatory benefits, antimicrobial properties and, you guessed it, plenty of antioxidants to go around. Strawberries and mint are great additions as well. Mint, in particular, is great for indigestion and calming an upset stomach.
I love that a traditional mojito doesn’t include any straining – the mint leaves and lime are both kept in the drink for an extra boost of nutrition. This cocktail or mocktail recipe is a little twist on the traditional mojito!

Different Glasses to serve wine with
There’s a Glass for every wine
Navigating the world of wine glasses can be very daunting most especially for individuals new to the industry of wine drinking, but same isn’t said about Connoisseur’s as they know their way around a glass cabinet blindfolded, picking the right glassware that best fits any particular wine that’s being served. As trivial as this knowledge may seem, selecting the right glassware for any event/occasion can be a minefield as it portrays a touch of mastery to the art of wine drinking, and bringing to live the science behind the purpose of creating different shapes of wine glasses. This article aims at giving our esteemed readers more insight into the basic principles of wine drinking with the appropriate wine glass.
Basic Anatomy Of a Wine Glass
A wine glass is composed of four parts – the base, the stem, the bowl, and the rim. The base is what gives the glass its stability. From there, the stem elongates the glass while giving the customer something to hold on to without raising the temperature of the wine within. It also prevents fingerprints from getting on the bowl of the glass.
The bowl sits atop the stem. The bowl is arguably the most important feature of the glass. It should be large enough to comfortably swirl the wine without spilling or splashing it, and it should be tapered to retain and concentrate the aroma of the wine as full-bodied red wines need room to breathe and to release their aroma.
The uppermost part of the bowl is where the rim lies. A thinner rim is less distracting to drinkers as they sip their wine, and a smooth rim will not impede the wine as it flows from glass to mouth. Thicker, rounder rims are the sign of a cheaply made glass, and while the glasses serve their purpose, they may be more distracting to the drinker.
What Is the Difference Between Glass and Crystal?
All crystal is glass, but not all glass is crystal. In general, the lead content of glass determines whether it is classified as glass or crystal. The presence of lead softens the glass in crystal, making it more easily cut and engraved. Unlike traditional glass, crystal is heavier and diffracts light. In traditional lead glassware, the lead has a tendency to leach out of the crystal. To combat this, today’s crystal glassware is typically unleaded. Crystal wine glass enhance the aromas in wine and offer an elegant design, making them perfect for high-end dining rooms and formal events.
Crystal Wine Glass
Glass Wine Glasses
Type of Glasses ideal for serving red wine
Below are the typical characteristics of a red wine glass:
- Large glass with a full, round bowl and large opening
- Opening enables you to dip your nose inside to detect the aroma
- Full bowl provides air contact for the complex aromas and flavors
- Increases the oxidation rate, which smooths out the complex flavors
White Wine Glasses
Below are the typical characteristics of a white wine glass:
- Bowl is more u-shaped and upright than a red wine glass
- Slightly smaller bowl than red wine glass
- The shape enhances and preserves aromas while also maintaining the wine’s cool temperature
Dessert Wine Glasses
Below are typical characteristics of a dessert wine glass:
- Usually smaller due to the high alcohol content of dessert wines
- Dessert glasses usually also direct wine to the back to the tip and back of the mouth to allow for adequate sweetness detection
Sparkling Wine & Champagne Glasses
Below are typical characteristics of sparkling wine glasses:
- Upright, narrow bowl to preserve carbonation and flavor
All-Purpose Wine Glasses
If a single glass type is all that your circumstances permit, an all-purpose wine glass is the way to go. Although the experience may not be the same as when you use the proper glass type for the application, these glasses offer a similar function at a lower cost and increased efficiency.
Whether sweet or dry, white or red, robust or light, wine requires very specific serving procedures in order to reach its full flavor potential. Ultimately, this is all narrows down to personal preference, as everyone’s palette is differs, and the benefits of certain wine glasses vary from person to person. At any rate, there’s no reason to think you’ll ever be judged by your stemware, and you don’t have to be a professional Connoisseur to choose the right glass.

All Champagne is sparkling wine, but not all sparkling wine is Champagne
Champagne VS Sparkling Wines
Don’t get carried away with the bubbles, although both champagne and sparkling wine possess a refreshing fizziness and a similar trademark which is the “pop-effect” when uncorked. There are a few main reasons why the two labels display different names, and sticking with us through this post will be helpful in decoding the differences between these two bubbly beverages, so you’ll be more informed the next time you pop that bottle and click glasses.
What is Sparkling Wine?
Many people refer to sparkling wine as Champagne. But however, this term is exclusively reserved only for the sparkling wines made in the Champagne region of France. Sparkling wine is any carbonated wine, which includes carbonated wines made from a variety of grapes and they can be of different colors but they all use carbon dioxide to create their iconic bubbly effect. This generic term, “sparkling wine” encompasses the more specific sub-category of champagne. The fizz and bubbles occur from the natural fermentation process when sugar is added to the yeast, and it reacts with the sugar to create carbon dioxide which is then trapped and bottled for your enjoyment. Types of Sparkling Wines that aren’t Champagne includes; Prosecco · Cava · Sparkling Rosé · Sekt · Crémant · Trentodoc. And if you don’t like too many bubbles in your glass, you can try the Semi-sparkling Wine, or Red sparkling wine type.
How Sparkling Wine is Made
Modern sparkling wines are not made by accident, the process is one that has been well established and is designed to create consistent tasting every time. Every sparkling wine must go through two fermentation processes, It’s the second fermentation process that produces the bubbles and differentiates them from one another.
Traditional (Classic) Method – This method requires the second fermentation to take place in the bottle, where sugar and yeasts are added. This process is more complex and requires the winemaker to handle the bottles many times. Same method is used to create champagne and it produces smaller bubbles. These smaller bubbles are more persistent through the wine.
Tank (Charmat) Method – In this method, the second fermentation stage occurs in a large steel tank. This produces larger bubbles, which are found in Prosecco. This process is faster, less expensive, and produces a fruitier flavor than the traditional method.
All process is similar to the production of still wines, but however, there are a few notable differences such as:
- Grapes are harvested earlier to achieve higher acidity levels.
- Grapes are usually harvested by hand to reduce the tannin levels and other phenolic components that wines have.
- The press house is usually close to the vineyard, so grapes can be separated from their skins as fast as possible.
What is champagne
Champagne is named after the region where it is grown, fermented, and bottled. Nestled in the country’s northeastern corner, near Paris, the only labels that are legally allowed to bare the name “Champagne” are bottled within 100 miles of this region (according to European Law). Outside of the Champagne region, French sparkling wine is known as Crémant. In addition to location, Champagne also receives its distinguished name because of the grapes used to produce it and the distinct flavors that result from grapes grown in Champagne’s cooler climate and chalky, mineral-rich soils. Only a handful of grapes across Champagne are allowed to be used for its base or “cuvée” (a blend of the first and most concentrated extraction of juices from pressed grapes). Grapes allowed in Champagne production are: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Petit Meslier, Arbane.
Champagne Making Practices
The process in which Champagne is made is called Méthode Traditionnelle, formerly known as the Méthode Champenoise, which is also referred to as “The Classic Method”. In a nutshell, Champagne gets its sparkle from a second fermentation that takes place in the bottle, but the entire process is very technical and labor intensive: From dictating how one may grow the grapes to how they may be harvested and processed, the rigorous standards distinguish Champagne. For instance, all grapes that are used in Champagne must be hand picked and pressed in a covered environment. They may only be pressed twice, once to make the ultra concentrated cuvée (which is high in sugar and acid) and the second time to make the taille (sugary, lower in acid, and higher in minerals and pigment). A Champagne may be classified as vintage or non-vintage—respectively—when wines are made with grapes of one year’s harvest or a mix of grapes from different years.
What is a celebration without a little bubbly? It has become the quintessential beverage for many occasions, from birthdays to anniversaries to weddings and promotions. Get more familiar with your sparkling wines on www.Drinksdirect.NG . You also don’t need a reason to enjoy a good bottle of sparkling wine, you just need some knowledge on how to select it and serve it.

Alcohol suitable for gifting at occasions
A guide to Alcohol Gifting
When it comes to gifting alcohol, figuring out which alcohol complements the occasion, the choice of alcohol the recipient would appreciate, what to look for when giving alcohol as a gift, and how to present it, there’s little or less guide to help out there. Alcohol gifting has been part of human culture and tradition for hundreds of years, so why all the gift-giving drama when it comes to booze? After all, isn’t this stuff supposed to be fun?
The trickiness springs from a combination of history, culture, and subjective personal preference, and also the fact that there are a thousands of varieties when it comes to alcohol as a gift – from sparkling to still wine, fortified wines to spirits, beer, liquors, and ciders, all with various sub-varieties that may or may not match the tastes of the recipient. Gifting alcohol is undoubtedly the personal taste preferences of the recipient here are some general tips to help navigate those tricky gift-giving bumps you’re likely to face.
Dinner or Housewarming Party
Key things to remember about gifting alcohol at a party are 1) you’re usually gifting for the hosts, not the other guests, and 2) it’s quite possible that the gift will be consumed the same day you give it. Nonvintage sparkling wines like prosecco, sweeter wines like Moscato, as well as mid-range beers, are all great choices. Good options for still-wine (white, rosé, and red) can be from budget-minded regions such as South America. Since the gift might be popped open in short order, a gift bag or other simple packaging makes it look more presentable. If you decide to go the beer route, choose a local craft brew; they’ve never been more accessible to. If you want to include glasses, go for simple, tulip-shaped stemmed or stemless glasses for wine, or a pint glass or two with beer.
Birthdays
Well, consider that the golden rule in gifting alcohol on birthdays should show some thought in the selection, If they like a particular spirit, wine, or beer style, look for interesting, new, or limited-edition versions of their favorites (that usually means mid- to premium-range price points). Extras will often go a long way toward making the gift more meaningful when it comes to birthdays. If you’re gifting beer, remember that these can sometimes be purchased in sets that comes with custom-made beer glasses. For wine, look for a glass style made specifically for the grape variety or wine type being gifted. Yeah, it’s extra work, but the thoughtfulness will be appreciated.
Your Boss at work
Gifting your boss is often about celebrating their occasion and helping your own persona. The rule here is to stay classy, and give something that isn’t cheap – this is a reflection on you, remember? It’s a bonus if the booze can last beyond one day after opening, so that your boss has many occasions to enjoy it while pondering what a wonderful employee you are. Fortified wines are good options, as are spirits such as cognac, Armagnac, scotch, and bourbon. These will all be in the premium range, but that’s the price you pay for a good impression. You could make an even bigger splash if you pair the alcohol with mid- to high-end simply styled glass tumblers for spirits, or small tulip-shaped tasting glasses for wine. Try to give the gift one-on-one, in private, so the gift-giving doesn’t appear overly showy or create an awkward scenario for either of you.
Holidays
One of the most tried-and-true ways to handle this scenario is to go seasonal. There are beers that are brewed specifically for every season, and they’re great gift options for holiday parties. Thinking in terms of food pairings helps, too; lighter fare in the warmer months works with lighter wines like rosés and white wines), and holidays in the cooler months generally see heartier fare (often best paired with spirits, fortified wines, and bold red wines). You don’t have to break the bank on these; bargain to mid-range-priced alcohol is usually fine, but try to avoid common items if possible, as they can suggest a lack of thoughtfulness. Gift bags, wrapped boxes, or baskets are all good options for presenting alcohol as gifts during the holidays. Finally, rather than combining holiday booze with drinking glasses, consider a more inspired option to help your gift really stand out, such as including a seasonal food match instead.
Milestones: Weddings, Significant Birthdays, Anniversaries
The reason we celebrate significant milestones in people’s lives is because they’re rare; they are genuinely worth celebrating. The gift you give here should reflect that specialness; therefore, you’re going premium price point or bust. Vintage sparkling wine or fortified wine is the gold standard. If you really want to wow the recipient, try to find a vintage that matches a year significant to the celebration (like a birth year or wedding date). These are the occasions to go all out, so you can probably be as flamboyant with the packaging as your heart desires. Add-ons like champagne flutes or small wine glasses are perfectly acceptable, but don’t upstage the main gift; make the alcohol the unquestioned star of the show, and a reflection on the people and milestone being celebrated.
When gifting alcohol, the main thing to keep in mind is the message you want to send with your gift. But don’t stress over it too much – after all, it’s a gift that will be enjoyed by the recipient!
An array of ZONIN sparkling wine is ideal for gifting in any occasion, ranging from ZONIN Prosecco, Spumante, Black curvee, to chianti (Red wine), Brachetto and many more.

Top 5 Reasons why you should have a Mini-Kegerator in your Home
Bringing the pub Home
Home beer dispensers have come on a long way in recent times, offering everything from kitchen counter-friendly devices to proper pub-like taps, with support for different kegs and refill systems depending on the model you spring for. The pubs maybe open and just a drive away from home, this technology can be the pride of garden parties and matchday viewing sessions all through the seasons. Either way, you owe it to yourself to enjoy a perfectly poured cold beer at home like you have it in the pub.
Off the top of our heads, there are many reasons why you need a kegerator in your life, but beer is a good reason. Here are other benefits;
- Your home is the bar. However, one of the biggest and best reasons for getting a kegerator is convenience. Not only can you avoid driving, traffic, finding parking, and paying for gas but there are no lines at your kegerator and it’s always you pouring your favorite beer or beverage! Plus, you can be comfortable at your own home bar with the game that you want to watch on the TV. Finally, at the end of the night, you don’t need to worry about sobering up and driving home or paying for a ride home, you’re already there!
- It saves you money. Depending on how much beer you usually drink and the types of beer you buy at the pub, buying a keg of beer could save you quite a bit of money. Like most items that you buy in bulk, the upfront cost of a beer keg may seem less in cost, but once you breakdown how much it costs per pint, you’ll quickly see the savings add up. And after a few kegs, you’ll have saved enough to offset the initial cost of the kegerator itself. It’s more of an investment, with beer.
- You’ll Save On Fridge Space. Instead of packing your fridge with bottles and cans, taking up space, you can have a separate freestanding kegerator for your beverages with reusable kegs. Now, when you’re entertaining you don’t have to worry about if your fridge can contain 60 beers and all the food for your guests. You can pick up a keg that will suit your needs and won’t take up that precious refrigerator space. If you really want to save space in your home, you may want to consider outdoor/commercial kegerator If you really love throwing large parties, these are great for entertaining large crowds and an impressive upgrade to your outdoor barbecue area. In that case, invite us over and we’ll help you finish those kegs.
- They’re Better For The Environment. When your beer gets stored in cans or bottles, drinking it produces more trash to the environment and just winds up in a landfill, or the ocean. Not to mention, all of those cans and bottles take resources to create. A keg is reusable, as the glasses you pour your beer into. When you have your own kegerator, your beer drinking will come with less waste to the environment and the Eco-system at large.
- Temperature and Quality control. A big advantage of owning a kegerator is having a fresh beer every time and any time you want it. When stored at the right temperature, beer and other beverages maintain their quality and stay fresh for long periods of time. If you’re concerned that you just won’t drink a whole keg fast enough for your own beer dispenser to make sense, think again. If you store it in the right conditions, a keg of beer will generally last at least three or four months, depending on the type of beverage that is in the kegerator.
If beer isn’t your thing, we don’t judge. It’s not just beer that taste better on tap, all drinks taste better on tap. You can upgrade your kitchen or home bar by including cold brew coffee, tea, sodas, wine, whiskey and even cocktails on draft! Using barrel storage, dual, or triple faucet kegerator, you can pour a variety of beverages from one kegerator. Before embarking on getting a home kegerator, learn more about keg sizes, capacity, dimensions and most importantly, the number of beers you get out of a keg.
