‘Vampire Diaries’ actors Damon & Stefan Salvatore, on their new bourbon Whiskey brand:
‘Our soul is in this bottle’
For actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley whose character name in vampire’s diary series was ( Damon & Stefan Salvatore) the reason for launching their own bourbon liquor brand is personal. The two have been good friends since playing brothers on “The Vampire Diaries.” Even though it’s been four years since the popular CW series wrapped, the co-stars remain close — so closely knitted, that they co-created a whiskey brand called Brother’s Bond Bourbon.
“We drank bourbon on the show,” Wesley (Stefan) told Yahoo Finance Live. “Ian and I drank bourbon offscreen when we finished work. We fell in love with bourbon. We shot the show in the South, and so, this is extremely organic to us. And it’s something that just makes perfect sense.” Ian Somerhalder (Damon) added, “This [bourbon] was over 10 years in the making. This guy (Stefan) and I spent so many hundreds — well, thousands and thousands of hours on the set together. And this is the most authentic thing that we can think of doing. Our soul is in this bottle.”
When the bourbon launched in May it sold out online within days. Since then, Somerhalder says they have sold 50,000 cases of the four-grain straight bourbon whiskey which retails for $39.99 and is sold online and in major chains including Albertsons (ACI), Trader Joe’s and Walmart (WMT). Wesley (Stefan) said the two had “a lot of time on our hands” during the COVID-19 pandemic and decided to put their business plan into action. “I mean, obviously, it was a horrible time, but at the same time, it forced us to sit in our homes, get on our Zooms, talk every single day, and develop this product. Ian and I live close to one another,” said Wesley. “So I went to Ian’s. We blended this bourbon together in his living room.”
Wesley added, “Most people — and I’m not saying specific names or anything, but most people will slap their names on a bottle and sell a product that they really have no part in developing. Everything you see here, from the label to the name, to what’s inside, to the bottle, was designed by Ian and myself and our team. And so for us, this is extremely organic.”The pair’s “passion project” is also about giving back with an eye toward sustainability. The brand donates a portion of proceeds to regenerative agriculture, and their goal is for the brand to be carbon negative.
“The future of business are the companies with triple bottom lines,” said Somerhalder. “People, planet, profit— end of story, right? We obviously know scientifically regenerative agriculture can stop climate change in its tracks, so we are doubling down and putting our money where our mouth is… We are an agricultural company. And we are going to make sure that we invest heavily, heavily, heavily in regenerative ag[riculture] by sequestering enormous amounts of carbon dioxide and storing it safely back in the ground where it belongs.”
The Brother’s Bond Bourbon
Somerhalder explained how the label, which features two men sitting under a tree, is “super symbolic.”
“The brother’s bond is the anchor that holds this big, you know, organic structure in between the boys. They have the ability to be safe and look out and have perspective,” he said. “These are the grains actually built in, you know, the corn, wheat, barley, and rye, built into the tree. And the birds signify nature and freedom.”
“And the tree is an oak tree,” added Wesley, “and as we all know, bourbon is aged in oak barrels. So everything has a meaning and a significance.”

Guide to identifying adulterated Johnnie Walker Whiskey
A Tug of War
Johnnie walker is a brand of scotch whiskey owned by Diageo but distributed in Nigeria by Guinness. JW whiskey originated in the Scottish burgh of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire. The brand was first established by grocer john Walker. It is the most widely distributed brand of blended scotch whiskey in the world, sold in almost every country, with annual sales of the equivalent of over 223.7 million 700ml bottles in 2016 (156.6 million liters).
The existence of numerous E-commerce sites provides the perfect channels for this enterprise, not only as a source of customer but also for the acquisition of the packaging itself. It is estimated that a third of all alcohol production worldwide is illicit, and that number rises to a half in places such as Africa and China. At drinksdirect.ng our core values and drive has always been supplying unadulterated drinks directly to your door step.
Consumption of fake alcohol poses a big threat to our health and most times have a dangerous consequences, and can lead to Nausea and vomiting, Abdominal pain, blindness, in extreme cases it can also lead to coma, liver and kidney disease, and even death. Fake or illegally produced alcohol is alcohol that is produced in unlicensed distilleries or people’s homes and intended for sale. Properly produced and certified alcoholic drinks will be made using ethanol, whereas production of fake alcohol is more likely to use cheaper versions of alcohol that contains potentially dangerous chemical.
HOW TO IDENTIFY FAKE JOHNNIE WALKER
While you might be paying for a Johnnie walker, chances are that your local distributor might sell you some cheap whiskey packaged in nice looking bottle. It is very difficult for most people to spot the difference between fake and authentic alcohol by just looking at it in the store. Also, some bootleggers are clever enough to even mimic the original taste by blending different types of alcohol. A huge part of the problem is that the substance, the fake liquors are made from hidden locations and can be difficult to identify as dangerous.
Here are a list of guidelines to aid identify counterfeit Johnnie Walker whiskey
- A particularly low price; fake and adulterated drinks are mostly in a haste to get into the market so as to maximize profits quickly within a short period of time without authorities and consumers noticing, to this extent price is lowered to achieve such inhuman motive.
- Check the label carefully; Most of the time, these counterfeit drinks have spelling error on their labels and are often poorly packaged. So if you if you observe names such as “ Johnnie Walker ” spelled as ‘ Johnny Walker ’ Also if the label is missing the manufacturers address, manufacturing date or batch number please run away.
- When several bottles of the same brand in a store have an uneven level of liquid; This is an indication of manual filling as most of these fake manufactures don’t have access to the sophisticated technology used in the authentic production process.
- When the label is glued unevenly; Poor packaging is another feature found in counterfeit alcoholic drinks. While established brand such as Johnnie Walker decorate their packaging properly and meticulously, fake liquor often do not. Check the packaging for bumps on the bottle, poorly glued stickers and so on.
- When the cork seems to have been previously opened; This is a clear and evident signal that the liquor was not properly sealed by the fake manufacturer, and Diageo brands are committed to excellence, distinction, and brilliance and wouldn’t afford to make such error. Also it could be a sign that it has been tampered with previously before making it to the store.
- Observe the color and texture; Genuine johnnie walker often have consistent color and fine texture, if the color or texture of the liquor seem questionable and inconsistent, then its most likely to be fake.

Do you think influencer marketing works for business owners?
Celebrity endorsements are a marketing strategy designed for businesses of all various forms whereby a celebrity or influencer is appointed as a spokesperson to help promote a business, brand, product, or services. Studies has proven that celebrity endorsements can increase a company’s sales by an average of 4%, compared to its competitors. From a buyer’s perspective, customers are likely to most times patronize a business or brand simply because someone they idolize, or trust is associated with such brand, that’s why celebrity endorsement is so effective. Celebrities can often persuade a buyer to click purchase even when they have a range of other options or vendors to purchase from.
The endorsements should also have well-drafted clause to stipulate all conditions of the endorsement. The contract should cover: Exclusivity obligations that ensure the celebrity will not wear, promote, or use competitor products, e.g., showcasing a competitor’s brand or products at high-profile events. Termination rights stemming from the actions of the celebrity which tarnishes or harms the brands image. Termination if the brand and the celebrity conflict in relation to a specific social, environmental, or charitable cause. For example, a model is found to use drugs with a brand that works heavily with drug-use prevention. Mitigation measures that must be used to limit the damage of the brand if the celebrity has acted or spoken inappropriately. For example, the celebrity must present a public apology or appear at press conferences to address the issue directly. Trademark and intellectual property rights should be clearly stated in the contract. This may refer to how the celebrity’s image and name are used, and who has control over the trademark and intellectual property rights if the endorsement contract ends.
DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MORAL CLAUSES?
Moral clause is written in the contract specifically to prohibit certain behavior in the personal life of the endorser. It attempts to protect the public and private image of both parties involved in the contract. In essence, one party to the contract is leveraging on the other party’s good name or reputation. The moral clause usually deals with objectionable behavior ,including sexual acts, drug use, scandal, or public dispute. There’s a drink for every occasion. A drink for parties, a drink for dates, and a drink for quick energy when you need to perform.
What Drinks Will You Use To Cool Off This Weekend?

The most popular and simplest whiskey cocktail has to be the famous Jack and Coke(with ice) which is a simple combination of half a glass of Jack Daniels whiskey
Ciroc Vodka Or Gordons Gin? Which Do You Prefer?
Is your games night even complete without the prescence of booze? When you think game night you’ll think of fun, friends, and alcohol and in this scenerior some alcohol are better suited than others for the event.
You’ll want a spirit that’s somewhat premium, harsh but not to the point that it’ll leave one sick, and you’d also want flavour in your drink.
If you have a gamesnight with friends and you’re not really sure about which drinks you should get, below are our top 5 picks for you.
1. Patron Cafe: Tequila is the first thing that pops into everyones mind when a fun night of games in mentioned and if you’re goign to be having this liqour, you might as well bless your taste buds with a premium coffee flavoured one that won’t make you squeeze your face too much.
2. Agor Red wine: Not everyone might be a fan of liqour and there’d always be that one person who’d insist on not drinking too much (Maybe the person is the designated driver). For people who fall into this category, you could go the wine route and get yourself a bottle of this sweet dessert wine. Compared to the spirits on this list it’s quite mild and it’s a sweet wine.
3. American Honey: This whiskey literally tastes like honey and after Patron cafe, this might be our second favourite on this list as a lot of whiskey lovers enjoy this drink. Also, if you’re not really a fan of whiskey and you’re open to exploring whiskey, we recomend you start with this brand.
4. Martell Cognac: Now we’re entering the premium liquer territory. Most people argue that all liquer taste the same and buying expensive liquers is a waste of money. We think not!!! If you blind taste a cheap bottle of whiskey and an expensive one side by side, you’d find that the more expensive one would be smoother in the tongue, the flavour would be more complex and generally, the after feel of the expensive one would leave a smile on your face compared to you squeezing your face after sipping the cheaper whiskey.
5. Jameson Whiskey: In Nigeria, this whiskey has become the unofficial whiskey for the millenials as it converted a lot of non whiskey drinkers. But on a lighter note, is any type of party or games night in Nigeria complete without a bottle of Jameson whiskey being there?
Not Every time Wine, Sometimes Gin or Vodka!!!
There’s a time and place for everything. When you’re home alone and watching a movie, It’s wine o’clock. When you have guests you want to impress, It’s whiskey/Cognac time. But, when you’re throwing a small shindig or house party, Gin and Vodka MUST be present as they are known to get the parties started.
Random question though, are you a Gin or Vodka Person?
