Brandy

All hail the mighty Brandy. Brandy (from brandywine, derived from Dutch brandewijn, “gebrande wijn” “burned wine”) is a spirit produced by distilling wine. Brandy generally contains 35–60% ABV and is typically taken as an after-dinner drink.

Brandy is not only a popular type of alcohol, it’s also a favorite in the kitchen! It’s a common flavouring in traditional foods such as Christmas cake and pudding. The two best-known types of brandy in the world are probably Cognac and Armagnac, both from France but there are other types like Brandy de Jerez, Calvados, Applejack etc.
